[Starlingx-discuss] [Starlingx-disscuss][Build]Fail to build rpm packages when build StarlingX ISO

Since sm-common does not build a debug package, those steps are not needed, so as a workaround add this line in the sm-common.spec

%define  debug_package %{nil}

Note: this might just mean sm-common will pass, and one of the other packages that also are generating debug files will fail.

@stx-ha cores: Someone could also remove the commented out dbg section at the same time “files -n sm-common-dbg”

Hi Erich,

Thank you so much for your reply. I have tried to run the command “$ mock -r $MY_WORKSPACE/std/configs/<my-user>-<my-project>-tis-r5-pike-std/<my-user>-<my-project>-tis-pike-std.b0.cfg ” and it still fails to build rpm packages. Also I clean the mock environment with the `--clean` flag and try to build again. Errors are just same as last time I tried, and I still try to figure out why dwz cannot be installed.

Thanks again,
Tianhao

Hi,

It seems that your mock environment is broken, see this error:
BUILDSTDERR: *** ERROR: DWARF compression requested, but no dwz
installed

The command that you tried generates a new mock environment and that is
why it builds successfully. If you want to reproduce the issue in the
mock environment that is used by the build system, then use the
following config file:

$ mock -r $MY_WORKSPACE/std/configs/<your-user>-<your-project>-tis-r5-pike-std/<your-user>-<your-project>-tis-pike-std.b0.cfg

And try to find why dwz cannot be installed.

Alternatively you can just clean the mock environment with the `
--clean` flag and try to build again.

I hope this can help.

Hi guys,

Recently I got a problem when I try to build StarlingX ISO. When I
run the 'build-pkgs' command following the 'stx.2019.05 Build
guide ', I can't build rpm packages successfully.
Followings are errors in build.log.

But if I run the 'sudo mock -r test-starlingx-tis-r5-pike-std.cfg sm-
common-1.0.0-20.tis.src.rpm' command, rpm packages can be built
successfully.
I think this is probably a permission problem. But even I change
owner and group of these files, the 'build-pkgs' command still failed
for same reason.
I really can't understand this problem,can anybody give me some
comments for it?

Thanks
Tianhao
