Hi Volker:
     Could you upload the new log of cinder crash to LP again ?
     Thanks.

And I noticed your system is using ceph as backend, I think you can directly use ceph to backup/restore the volume . you can check [1] as reference .

Can we get the collect logs for this scenario? We need to see the logs to see what's going on.

You might want to try adding "--container-format bare" to the command below, after the "--disk-format qcow2" portion just to see if that helps.

Thanks,
Chris

hi!
so, documented in bug-report i have helped by my self. thx for the attention, but another problem came up by this way:

if i try to convert an 2TB volume to an image, cinder crash all the time!

command:
$ openstack image create --volume 3c9414bb-98bd-45d4-9b38-2b073e958f81 --disk-format qcow2 "test - snap - vol - img"

$ tail /var/log/cinder/cinder-volume.log

in the same way, the complete controller will unavailable and openstack will switch to the other one and bring it to active ... this is not so good :( i realy need this volume/image ...

Hi Volker:
Would you like running command 'collect' in system to collect all necessary logs ?
And then create new bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/starlingx and attached log to bug.

Thanks.

Volker,
You still have 1.0 running (2+2+3) and you still have your data, right? You just want to backup your user data & restore it in your new 2.0 deployment? I am hoping that you didn't lost your data.

Thx. - cindy

hi,
i'm big in trouble... i'm with you from the first hour and run an staringX 2018.10 in production mode (i know, i know, no comment please ;)) so, update to the new starlingX 2.0 version will need to reinstall the complete stack, but i need to backup some VMs first.
based on this dokumentation https://docs.openstack.org/nova/rocky/admin/migrate-instance-with-snapshot.html i got always an zero byte image, at the internet i got some posting that indicate the same problem, but for now, i cant fix it :(

i have an full starlinX install with dedicated storage (2x controller, 2x compute, 3x storage). maybe someone can help me?

greez & thx, volker...
