Yes ... - if a controller were to go down permanently, you would first delete the old failed controller host and add a new one by pxebooting from the active one.

No procedure changes from the standard install.

Thanks, Greg.

One followup question - if a controller were to go down permanently, would it be possible to add a new one by pxebooting from the active one? If so, are there any procedure changes from the standard install?

Thanks again for your help
Best,
Alex

Hi all,

A few quick questions on Edge Cloud setups, both assuming AIO duplex configuration:

  1. If either controller goes out of service (temporary or permanent), would it still be possible to add new hosts to the system (of any workload)?
[Greg] Yes you can still add new worker/compute nodes if only a single controller is available.

     * Would it require a new controller to be brought online?

  1. On an edge cloud, since an OAM ip range is specified, is it possible to have more than 2 controllers for extra redundancy? For example, having 3 controllers ready, and if one were to go down permanently, all control would be handed over to the other two?
[Greg] Nope. Currently the max number of controllers is 2.
There have been some discussions about supporting a more traditional 3x node controller cluster. But that is not currently being worked on.

Greg.

Thanks,
Alex
