[Starlingx-discuss] Questions about patch ab1baac upstreaming
by Le, Huifeng 21 Nov '18

21 Nov '18
Matt, I am looking at patch#ab1baac (US106501: Change to Titanium's handling Neutron Extensions) which targets to remove wrs-fields from the response to non-wrs client (e.g. no 'wrs-header' in the client request), suppose this is STX special feature and not need for upstream, could you please help to confirm? Thanks much! Best Regards, Le, Huifeng

[Starlingx-discuss] UID / GID adds and removes in setup package
by Saul Wold 20 Nov '18

20 Nov '18
Hi Dariush, As I was reviewing the recent setup package refactor, I thought we need more background on why we add / remove uids and gids in the setup package vs for in an associated stx packages. I can understand some of the uids (add associated gids) are being removed such as mail, operator, games, ftp, lp. But the bin, daemon and adm users are also removed, and I think later we modify other packages because some of these users are missing. Is there any reason we can't keep these standard UIDs/GIDs? Sau!

Re: [Starlingx-discuss] [Ironic] deploy bare metal by Ironic
by Waines, Greg 20 Nov '18

20 Nov '18
Yes StarlingX does support Ironic. Some quick notes on its usage: * It is currently only supported on StarlingX Standard Configurations * i.e. NOT on All-In-One Simplex or Duplex * An additional interface, of network-type ‘control’, must be added to the two Controllers * These interfaces are connected to the ‘ironic provisioning tenant network’, * ... used for network-booting the ironic nodes * These interfaces are configured with an IP Address from the subnet of the ‘ironic provisioning network’, * Typically the ironic provisioning network is on a flat provider network ... but does not have to be * At least one compute node must also be attached to the ‘ironic provisioning network’ * The ironic service is optional in StarlingX Deployments * Before enabling it you must first set a number of ironic ‘service parameters’ i.e. * system service-parameter-add ironic neutron provisioning_network=<IRONIC_PROVISIONING_NET_UUID> * system service-parameter-add ironic pxe tftp_server=<TFTP_SERVER_IP> * NOTE: this is the floating IP of the Ironic Conductor / TFTP Server on the ironic provisioning network * system service-parameter-add ironic pxe netmask=24 * system service-parameter-add ironic pxe controller_0_if=<CONTROLLER_0_INTERFACE> * system service-parameter-add ironic pxe controller_1_if=<CONTROLLER_1_INTERFACE> * and then * system service-enable ironic ... after that, create ironic nodes and boot Baremetal Instances on those nodes as described in the Ironic Documentation. And they mentioned Titanium Cloud used to support it well. Anyone has the experience to deploy bare metal system by Ironic on StarlingX? Suggests and feedbacks are much appreciated!

[Starlingx-discuss] Second controller on degraded for long time - Duplex Virtual
by Perez Carranza, Jose 16 Nov '18

16 Nov '18
Hi I setup a Duplex virtual environment and I noticed that after installation and provisioning of second controller (controller-1) this one stays in Degraded for long time (~ 1 hour), and alarm 400.001 is being displayed [1], Is this normal behavior? Is here a way to take out the controller-1 from 'degraded' to 'available' faster? 1- http://paste.openstack.org/show/734425/ Regards, José
