Notes

Review MultiOS Spec

This is a big project, the intention is to begin by focusing on flock services and code restructure by, proposing a MultiOS directory layout for source code, and independent metadata repositories, this is part of following best practices of open source upstream projects and OS’s, where, Source code and metadata are hosted in different repos. Brent raised the observation form the contributor stand point on why not use the same repository for both?, taking in consideration that  adding a new repo could represent some challenges to the developer workflow, response was around that most of the changes to metadata are not frequent and should not be a burden to developers. AR Ian/Brent get more data around this from the day to day developer to make a decision, today the agreement is to disagree on this change.

The second topic was around containers, and although the team didn’t have an straight answer as building the container bits, we agreed on to follow the upstream for containerized services that already upstream, instead of building custom images from scratch based on a variety of different Operating Systems.

We agreed that there are a couple topics to be added to this meta-spec (reviewed spec containing the pieces necessary to build MultiOS into StarlingX) just outlining what’s is required without getting into much detail for this one in particular, gathering more input for the community and project cores to have it completed, get a better grasp on the scope for MultiOS and the tools required for the listed supported OS’s  when providing an StarlingX build

Opens

We agreed to leave the Devstack effort out of the scope for this meeting and keep its tracking out of the non-OpenStack distro sub team.
