Hi Ildiko, I did find the session very useful. Didn't manage to understand everything, but overall very informative. Yes I do have a few questions: 1. How often is a new version of StarlingX released? 2. Updates are only performed via releases or releases can be patched? 3. Up to what previous release does the StarlingX community support? 4. What is the role of flock services in StarlingX? 5. How many workgroups are there? I believe these are some of the workgroups: security, OpenStack, distributed cloud, testing, documentation and OS distribution. 6. How often do the PTG meeting occur? Monthly? Bi-weekly? Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Hi David,
We don’t maintain a calendar file for StarlingX for the PTG, but I can drop you one in a sec.
Best Regards, Ildikó

Hi David,
No worries, I understand. I hope you or someone from your team will be able to dial in to one of the PTG sessions.
As an alternative, the community is having weekly meetings, we can also utilize one of those calls if that works for you better: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Starlingx/Meetings#7am_Pacific_-_Tech n ical_Steering_Committee_.26_Community_Call
Also thank you for the nice feedback about the project’s documentation. It is great to hear that it has good coverage to help with understanding and using the project itself.
Best Regards, Ildikó

Hi Ildiko,
It will be tough to attend at such short notice, as my calendar is pretty busy. I am probably not the best person to describe our use of StarlingX and the challenges we have faced. Saying that, I will check on Monday to see if I can at least join PTG event next week to get acquainted with the format and discussions of the online event.
The documentation available from StarlingX is pretty complete and extensive. I was actually referring to our internal documentation that summarises our architecture, how StarlingX is installed, what parts need to be configured and which were the challenges we faced and resolved.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks and best wishes,

Hi David,
I understand, thank you for sharing some additional details.
The PTG next week would be a great opportunity to talk a bit more about your use of the platform. Long-term project contributors should be able to give you some pointers on what you can do in certain areas, where you think you’re not getting as much out of StarlingX as you could. Are you available and planning to join the sessions on either Tuesday or Wednesday next week?
Also, do you have any feedback to the StarlingX project documentation? Or is it more the documentation on your specific setup that’s missing for you to be able to progress?
Thanks and Best Regards, Ildikó

Hi Ildikó,
Many thanks for your prompt response. It is nice to meet you!
We have been working with StarlingX for a couple of years now. The staff member responsible for our StarlingX activities has moved on and the documentation left behind is limited. We have an understanding of the platform, but far from enough to use it to the full extent of its capabilities. Our main challenge is knowing how to configure and use the platform to its full extent, rather than specific problems we have faced (although we do have some cases). We are looking to plug this hole by procuring training or hiring a resource for a few months that can get us up to speed on the platform.
I hope the above makes sense. Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi David,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing details about your use case!
My name is Ildikó Váncsa, I am the community manager of the StarlingX open source project.
The community has a lot of long-term maintainers, who have been working on enhancing the platform and enriching its functionality. If you have questions, you can work with the contributors in the community’s communication channels to discuss them. The mailing list and the weekly community calls[1] are a great place to have those conversations. Is there a specific challenge that you ran into with the platform?
There is a contributor-focused online event next week (the week of April 8) called Project Teams Gathering (PTG)[2], where StarlingX has sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 1300 UTC. It would be a great opportunity to talk more about your use case, as well as to discuss the challenges that you’ve been facing during your evaluation work. Would you be available to join the sessions on either or both of the two days?
StarlingX also has companies who are building commercial distributions and/or offering commercial support around the platform. Is that something that you are also looking for?
Thanks and Best Regards, Ildikó

Hi there,
I hope you are well.
We are looking to use StarlingX as our base platform to deploy real-time mobile network entities. Idea is to deploy a central controller/manager to administer hundreds or even thousands of remote nodes. The central controller must have high availability and reliability, as it can’t afford to go down. We have been looking at the All-in-one (AIO) Duplex Configuration for our solution. We have been playing around with the StarlingX platform for some time now, but can’t fully get to grips with the solution.
I am wanted to ask who can we turn to for technical support and guidance? Are there specialised partner or superusers we can work to help us deploy StarlingX in line with our specific needs? Any help in the matter would be gratefully received.
