Hi Greg, Thank you for working on this and sending out the reminder along with the current variations! My main comment to the below statements is that they are not really mission statements. They are describing what the StarlingX platform currently is, but they don’t talk about what the project’s and community’s mission is. I looked up a few large companies’ statements for reference: * Google: "Our mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful." - https://about.google * Tesla: "Tesla’s mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy." - https://www.tesla.com/about To formulate one for StarlingX, I think it would be a good exercise to talk a bit more about the topic by trying to answer questions like: Why is the community working on this platform? What are the contributors trying to achieve and what they would like to help the project’s users to achieve? So when we say that ‘The StarlingX project’s mission is to …’ we can finish the sentence with an active statement that describes why the project exists, what its purpose is and where it is going. Best Regards, Ildikó

… just a reminder, that there are on-going discussions around updating the StarlingX Mission Statement in the weekly TSC/Community meetings.
See the following etherpad for details on the discussions so far: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/starlingx-mission-statement Currently some of the proposed new mission statements are: • StarlingX is a complete, open source, highly-scalable, performant, distributed container-based cloud infrastructure platform with Day1 and Day 2 management for the most demanding workloads as found in Industrial IoT, Telecom, Video Delivery, and more. • or • StarlingX is a ready-to-deploy open-source distributed kubernetes-based cloud infrastruture platform with full lifecycle management of the Plaform infrastructure and capable of supporting the most demanding workloads as found in Industrial IOT, Telecom and more.
Feel free to join the discussion by adding to discussions in etherpad, attending TSC/Community meeting or replying to this email.
