Hi Gupta,

For the 1st issue, please try to create the image in Linux system with cmd like below:

sudo dd if=bootimage.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1M && sync

(sdb is the pen driver device)

For the 2nd issue, StarlingX doesn’t support USB Ethernet in default. You need modify kernel configuration to support it if you want.

Also StarlingX uses CentOS 7.6 with 3.10 kernel, which is a much old kernel. So not all usb Ethernet driver could be supported.

Also there is other code need be updated to support USB Ethernet.

You could have a try with below 2 patches applied:

https://review.opendev.org/657313

It will be much easier if you could add a PCI Ethernet card in your machine. J

Subject: [Starlingx-discuss] StarlingX Bootimage.iso Queries

Hi Team,

I have tried installing StarlingX 2018.10 and 2019.05 on my Dell,HP,Supermicro Server/Machines, but facing the following issues:

dracut-initqueue[628]: Warning: dracut-initqueue timeout - starting timeout scripts

dracut-initqueue[628]: Warning: dracut-initqueue timeout - starting timeout scripts

dracut-initqueue[628]: Warning: dracut-initqueue timeout - starting timeout scripts

And eventually enters into the Grub.

                    dracut:/# _

However this issue is not being faced when I install the Bootimage.iso by creating a bootable DVD.

The image depicting the issue is attached in the mail.

Is it compulsory to install bootimage.iso using CD/DVD only?

I have installed StarlingX in one of my machine which has only one on-board NIC. I have a USB to Ethernet available with me which is being detected on Windows/Linux.

I have tested it with Windows Ubuntu Centos.

But StarlingX is not able to detect it. It only detects the on-board NIC a machine has.

Is it possible to detect USB to Ethernet NIC in StarlingX?
