[Starlingx-discuss] StarlingX Release Sub-Projects
In the F2F meeting today, we worked jointly to define sub-project teams to assist with bottom-up planning. https://ethercalc.openstack.org/ctjc7vlbphm1 (also linked from the main StarlingX wiki page) Note: We have started filling out the team members; this is still work in progress. Can I ask the Team Leads for each sub-project to help fill out the names of their team members? I will be the team lead for the Release team. I will help coordinate release schedule, content and planning. I will be working with the Team Leads of the sub-projects to pull together the bottom-up plans. Looking forward to working with all of you. I can lead "distro non openstack" subproject. I will fill-up the names for the team members soon. I also want to lead the effort of "Python3 support" as well if no leader has been identified so far. Let me know if you are OK with this. For "distro non openstack" subproject, while it's forming, please send your name if you are interested to be part of the subproject. @Ken, can you add me and Haitao into "security" subproject? Also, I'd like to have Intel engineers part of the subproject of Flocks (config, fault, HA, metal, NFV, update, distributed cloud, etc) as well - I can send out the names later. Ghada, thank you for sending out the mail I wanted to send while we were flying through the storms last night. The intent of the subteams is to make them cross-org, cross-geo and cross-company. The intent is to also provide clear ownership and responsibility. We discussed whether things like Zuul test support, Python3 support and similar efforts should treated as separate sub-projects with dedicated teams, or if instead each team should own addressing those issues in their own components. The clear consensus was that each team should own their own Zuul test content, Python3 compatibility and (of course) bugs. Intel team - please feel free to start signing up for the team(s) you are interested in. You can participate in multiple teams if you like, and in fact most of us probably should. We'll provide more clarity on the team's themselves at the Wednesday project call. But I'm happy to answer any questions folks have over email too. The list is here: https://ethercalc.openstack.org/ctjc7vlbphm1. I have a ToDo to clean up the sub-project part of the wiki, although help from the teams would of course be great. :) brucej From: Xie, Cindy [mailto:cindy.xie@intel.com] Sent: Thursday, August 2, 2018 5:54 PM To: Xie, Cindy <cindy.xie@intel.com>; Khalil, Ghada <Ghada.Khalil@windriver.com>; 'starlingx-discuss@lists.starlingx.io' <starlingx-discuss@lists.starlingx.io> Subject: Re: [Starlingx-discuss] StarlingX Release Sub-Projects For "distro non openstack" subproject, while it's forming, please send your name if you are interested to be part of the subproject. @Ken, can you add me and Haitao into "security" subproject? Ghada, Staff, Is it possible we can create a sub-project team called "Use Cases"? I understand this is a low priority task however bringing some proof of concepts early will allow our community to bring another level of validation.
I don’t think we need a sub-project called Use Cases but I'd sure like to see a document on that topic. I think it makes sense to add this to the work list for the Documentation team. Yes from a definition perspective.
Do we have any that vary a lot from those?
The one I am working on is a use case with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Image / Video processing, aligned to at least the following 2 Use Cases from ECG: - Smart City as Software-Defined closed-loop System - Remote Surveillance / Security This is part of the content of a workshop [0] submitted as a CFP to Berlin Summit. http://bit.ly/EdgeComputingSolutions

hi, Arce,
Hi Wei, I apologize for the late reply.
I checked the link and found that no content there. Is there any process there?
We have a PRC partner that would like to discuss with us for use case for StarlingX.
We do not have an official StarlingX working group yet so we will not see formal content in this page [0] at least for the next weeks, let our PRC partner know this mailing list is open to initiate the discussion at a high level. Another recommendation is to join the OpenStack Edge Computing Group [1] who is driving a great number of discussions. We have a weekly call on Monday 13:00 PST, for more details please refer to the Sub Group Use Cases wiki section [2], our PRC partner can be included in the agenda to present and get feedback on his particular use case. Bruce? Ghada? Please feel free to propose any other way to help PRC partner, and let me know if something needs to be done from my side. Hi, I would like to propose to use the Edge Computing Group as the forum to collect and discuss use cases and have that as a foundation for StarlingX as well. The Edge Computing Group is in the Edge focus area and with that it is not under the OpenStack project but rather incorporated with StarlingX in some extent on the same level. The group’s focus is on use cases, requirements and references architectures with some already ongoing activities on testing and enhancements in OpenStack services such as Keystone and Glance. As Abraham pointed out already we have a sub-group focusing on use cases with weekly calls on Mondays. Please let me know if you have any questions about the working group or the activities or the resources Abraham linked in his previous email. I would be happy to help the StarlingX team to join and leverage the activities the group has. Thanks and Best Regards, Ildikó
