[Starlingx-discuss] Updating the project's one-pager
Hi StarlingX Community, I’m reaching out to you about the project’s one-pager. In order to be able to raise awareness of the project as well as provide an information package for those who are new, we use multiple assets. The project’s one-pager is one of these, which works both online as well as printed. There are a few conferences coming up, where we would like to be able to point people to this document as well as have it printed as a handout. You can find the current one-pager here: https://www.starlingx.io/collateral/StarlingX_OnePager_Web.pdf The information in the document is mainly accurate, but it hasn’t been updated in a while now. I would like to ask the community’s help to provide feedback and ideas with regards to what to keep and what to update. Please add your feedback about the one-pager to this etherpad: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/starlingx-one-pager-updates __Please share your thoughts by April 16.__ Thanks and Best Regards, Ildikó ——— Ildikó Váncsa Director of Community Open Infrastructure Foundation
Yeah ... this is old. - the picture at the bottom of page 1 is basically StarlingX R1.0 ... i.e. only OpenStack and no Kubernetes * Kubernetes needs to be added * also the Containerized OpenStack that we have today (R8.0) has MUCH fewer OpenStack services (i.e. we no longer support Ironic, Magnum, Swift, Murano, or Telemetry) - Two big items that need to be added to this 'one pager' are * Kubernetes ... the contributions over the last several releases have been primarily focused on the StarlingX Bare Metal Kubernetes Solution > i.e. StarlingX should be being compared to OKD * Distributed Cloud ... managing geographically distributed autonomous Edge Clouds at scale is the primary use case for StarlingX ... and we don't talk about this here. Hello, StarlingX Community. That's a great topic for my debut here on the mailing list as I'm new to the community, so I guess I'm the target audience of the one-pager! I added comments on the Etherpad, but I'd like to bring one of them here on the mailing list to discuss. My first thought after reading the StarlingX Features section was "interesting, I want more details on these". I mentioned on the Etherpad that we could include a link to https://www.starlingx.io/software because it's easy enough for someone with the printed version to type. However, is this the best place, or the only place, to get info about those features? More directly, if I want to know, for example, how reliability, scalability, ultra-low latency and edge security are achieved in StarlingX, where should I go? Regards, Bruno. ________________________________ From: Ildiko Vancsa <ildiko@openinfra.dev> Sent: Friday, April 7, 2023 16:10 To: StarlingX ML <starlingx-discuss@lists.starlingx.io> Subject: [Starlingx-discuss] Updating the project's one-pager External Mail: Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Hi StarlingX Community, Thank you everyone who got the opportunity to provide feedback about the project’s one-pager. I would like to quickly summarize where we are and ask a few follow-up questions: * Main items to add, change or update - Refresh the project’s description to reflect on the transformation it went through since the first release, and highlight the current features and focus areas - Add information about the Distributed Cloud architecture - Add information about the now container-based platform - Replace the diagram to one that reflects the project’s current architecture better - Add the 'https://www.starlingx.io/software’ link for further resources to learn about the project - Reshuffling the second page with the use cases and features to make it look more exciting and relatable I also have a few questions to clarify some of the comments and decide on how to address them. * Diagram - The current diagram is outdated - Would the current diagram on the website work to replace it with: https://www.starlingx.io/static/3dbe793665eb7c5b28158e8a1c1d9b22/5dbbf/Starl... ? * Learn more about the features - We have a few demo videos on the project’s website to showcase some of the features - Is there any other place to point people to beyond the demo videos? * OpenStack services - Is there a list available that shows the supported OpenStack services in 8.0? Based on the community’s feedback the StarlingX Marketing team and the OpenInfra Foundation Design team created a new version of the StarlingX one-pager. You can see the new version here: https://www.starlingx.io/collateral/StarlingX_OnePager_Web.pdf We are already using the flyer at the Open Source Summit North America event and will have it available in printed format at the OpenInfra Summit as well! Thank you everyone, who contributed to the effort of reviewing and improving the document! Thanks and Best Regards, Ildikó ——— Ildikó Váncsa Director of Community Open Infrastructure Foundation

Hi,
To further enahnce the one-pager, I also added suggestions to page 2. The new content is focusing on the use cases and also uses QR codes to point to project resources.
You can find the proposal here: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/starlingx-one-pager-updates#L25
Please respond to this thread or ad comments to the etherpad if you have any questions or feedback ASAP.
Thanks, Ildikó

Hi StarlingX Community,
Thank you everyone who got the opportunity to provide feedback about the project’s one-pager.
I would like to quickly summarize where we are and ask a few follow-up questions:
* Main items to add, change or update - Refresh the project’s description to reflect on the transformation it went through since the first release, and highlight the current features and focus areas - Add information about the Distributed Cloud architecture - Add information about the now container-based platform - Replace the diagram to one that reflects the project’s current architecture better - Add the 'https://www.starlingx.io/software’ link for further resources to learn about the project - Reshuffling the second page with the use cases and features to make it look more exciting and relatable
I also have a few questions to clarify some of the comments and decide on how to address them.
Are there any further comments or feedback that people would like to share about the one-pager?
Thanks and Best Regards, Ildikó

Hi StarlingX Community,
I’m reaching out to you about the project’s one-pager.
In order to be able to raise awareness of the project as well as provide an information package for those who are new, we use multiple assets. The project’s one-pager is one of these, which works both online as well as printed. There are a few conferences coming up, where we would like to be able to point people to this document as well as have it printed as a handout.
The information in the document is mainly accurate, but it hasn’t been updated in a while now. I would like to ask the community’s help to provide feedback and ideas with regards to what to keep and what to update.
Please add your feedback about the one-pager to this etherpad: https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fetherpad.opendev.org%2Fp%2Fstarlingx-one-pager-updates&data=05%7C01%7Cbruno.muniz%40encora.com%7C9fc5c8b25cb64430100908db379cab02%7C1e0c92b0f1bd441ebbe6c778f9ced553%7C0%7C0%7C638164918257462945%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=tD9FQFHeBjtm4HqZxgRTYWSx5A1GQ7oujhutrbpBEI4%3D&reserved=0
