Mailing list settings to handle DMARC policy challenges
Hi All, I got a question about the settings for starlingx-discuss, as some email domains have DMARC policy enforcements set up which conflict with the current ML settings. To address that challenge, I set the starlingx-discuss ML to use the "munge_from" policy, but only conditionally to the DMARC policy of the From: domain. Mailman should be able to identify the affected domains and apply the policy where needed. I also asked my colleague Jeremy about these settings and he reminded me of one drawback the OpenDev folks saw happening in the past: "mail clients that cache seen addresses will auto-complete the list address when you type in someone's name and users might accidentally send messages intended to be personal/private to the list instead of the person they thought they were mailing if they don't look at the associated address (which some clients even hide from the user without additional effort)" Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any challenges with the new settings.
