[Starlingx-discuss] rebuild or upgrade the 9 RPM/sRPM in the 3rd party list
All, We talked about the 9 RPM/sRPM in: https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/stx-tools/tree/centos-mirror-tools/... Brent, The idea as mentioned in the past is to remove this set of packages that are coming from non-CentOS repos. This way we can reduce where we are finding (or not finding) some set of RPMs and make the build more consistent. 6 of 9 are python based. Kubernetes has a proposed fix. influxdb is the most problematic as it's a binary being served from s3, yes signed, but it would be better if either it was built during the build process (short term) or StarlingX project built it (longer term). Sau!
Thanks,
Brent

@chuy is building the RPMs from Intel Koji, please add the status into the stories as well. So we can make decision if we want to upgrade or to re-build them.
Thx. - cindy

Brent, Let me explain the thinking process: - Initially, this 3rd party list was used to put the RPMs which are not yum downloadable. - There are actually two reasons why they are not downloadable using yum from CentOS: o They are no longer supported by CentOS LTS (like those 7.4 packages are disappearing and moving to 7.5) o They are actually not included in CentOS dist. - As Bruce said in the community meeting, they are the initial 9 RPMs that our build team is trying to build from source. - If there is a trustable version that we can download and rely on, then we really do not need to build. Actually, we'd like to limit our build service to only limit to those patches we have patches on. - Thus we did one-by-one analysis for those 9 RPM/sRPM to see if the list can be shorten. So please review the story and add your comments. I know that they may not all upgradable but let limit the problem to a smaller scope.
