[Starlingx-discuss] What is the base OS for Starlingx Release 6
Hi, Which CentOS release is the compatible with STX release boot image? Regards, Danishka
I am suppose to install nvidia driver on a worker (stx 6) which require few dependencies including gcc and make. When I use CentOS 7 nvidia driver compilation/installation fails and with Rocky linux 9 gcc installation fails. On Thu, Jul 28, 2022 at 4:01 PM open infra <openinfradn@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Danishka, Thank you for reaching out with the issues you’re experiencing. Can you share a bit more information about the failures that you’re seeing? Best Regards, Ildikó

Hi Ildiko, Sorry for the late reply. I was strugling to install dependencies (gcc) for Nvidia GPU drivers on STX 6 worker nodes. Finally created a local repo and inststalled dependencies using 'Developer Toolset 8' [1]. It would be great if correct gcc version available for stx 7 worker nodes. My original question is about, why CentOS 7 is use as the baseos for nodes. But later I noticed still CentOS7 get maintainer updates [2] [1] https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_developer_toolset/8/ht... hey Danishka, sorry for the slow reply on this. It sounds like you are trying to build on-target …. directly on starlingx hosts. We actually don’t support that, so we don’t package the build toolchain on the hosts. Only option I can think of is functionality that we added in STX.7.0 to do such a build in a container. A new container image was provided (with dev tools) for the purposes of building, deploying and running non-open-source tools that need to be built by end user. See ‘Build, deploy and run non-open-source tools’ on https://docs.starlingx.io/usertasks/kubernetes/vran-tools-2c3ee49f4b0b.html for details. Greg.
