[Starlingx-discuss] Agenda: Weekly StarlingX non-OpenStack distro meeting, 10/23

Cindy,

Please see my comments on part 1 in the gerrit review.
I don't understand why we need to clone upstream helm charts into StarlingX vs consuming them from the upstream project.

Thanks,

Brent

Ghada,
In my last week's non-openstack-distr meeting, we reviewed the option to allow partial of features in without impact of stx.3.0 release schedule. So we are execute against that goal. The feature for ceph-containerization won't be functional - and that's why you have it "out" in your release tracking sheet.

However, our master branch shall be open to accept the ready patches before MS3.

Agenda & notes for 10/23 meeting:
    - Ceph containerization update (Tingjie)
part#1: create helm-chart for rook and ceph-cluster: https://review.opendev.org/#/c/681457, feedback to seperate it into two patches. are you working w/ rook upstream community for the customization? Rook community is 1.1 version, backport the yaml files to StarlingX. Tingjie is not making any changes in the upstream rook component.
AR: Tingjie/Martin: to update the patches into two patches.
part#2: https://review.opendev.org/#/c/687340/ for configuration. Not completed yet, WIP
        test case is under development.
part#3: rook plugin implementation w/ more features: still WIP, patch to be uploaded.
Risk for stx.3.0 => goal is to have part#1 & part#2 finished. will review progress later.

[[GK]] The ceph containerization feature has been deferred to stx.4.0 as per previous discussions (and request from Bruce). As the release prime, I prefer to limit risk to the upcoming MS-3 and regression plans and defer code submissions for this feature until the stx.3.0 release branch is created at RC1 (~ Nov 20). Is there a reason we need this code to go before then? You are already highlighting a risk above. Is this code completely benign?

    - CentOS 8.0 upgrade planning (Shuai)
Shuai received xls sheet from Saul for kernel patch analysis against 4.19.
RT kernel is not available for CentOS 8.0 yet - the RT kernel will release later on. Do not worry about RT kernel later.
https://storyboard.openstack.org/#!/story/2006728 for kernel upgrade. Zhiguo is the owner. Making document for kernel patches for which ones need to be retained. AR for Shuai to send the xls to the mailing list for review. GCC compiler upgraded from 4.8 to 8.2.
    kernel drivers: not analyzed yet.
https://storyboard.openstack.org/#!/story/2006729: RPM and sRPM upgrade, how many RPM & sRPM upgrade needed? AR: Shuai to provide a list for RPM and sRPM to be upgrade for CentOS 8.0

    - CVE LP fixing - call for contribution (Cindy): we have 12 CVE to be fixed. anybody who is interested, send Cindy email, I will add you onto CVE watching list. The expectation is RC1 (11/20th) for both stx.3.0 and stx.2.0 This is good learning experience to start working as StarlingX developer.

    - Opens (all)
