[Starlingx-discuss] zero byte image
hi, i'm big in trouble... i'm with you from the first hour and run an staringX 2018.10 in production mode (i know, i know, no comment please ;)) so, update to the new starlingX 2.0 version will need to reinstall the complete stack, but i need to backup some VMs first. based on this dokumentation https://docs.openstack.org/nova/rocky/admin/migrate-instance-with-snapshot.h... i got always an zero byte image, at the internet i got some posting that indicate the same problem, but for now, i cant fix it :( i have an full starlinX install with dedicated storage (2x controller, 2x compute, 3x storage). maybe someone can help me? greez & thx, volker...
Volker, thank you for your bravery. :) I don't know how to help you, but I can't help noticing that you're referencing Rocky documentation and StarlingX 2018.10 uses Pike. I don't know if that makes a difference. brucej From: von Hoesslin, Volker [mailto:Volker.Hoesslin@swsn.de] Sent: Monday, September 16, 2019 6:14 AM To: starlingx-discuss@lists.starlingx.io Subject: [Starlingx-discuss] zero byte image hi, i'm big in trouble... i'm with you from the first hour and run an staringX 2018.10 in production mode (i know, i know, no comment please ;)) so, update to the new starlingX 2.0 version will need to reinstall the complete stack, but i need to backup some VMs first. based on this dokumentation https://docs.openstack.org/nova/rocky/admin/migrate-instance-with-snapshot.h... i got always an zero byte image, at the internet i got some posting that indicate the same problem, but for now, i cant fix it :( i have an full starlinX install with dedicated storage (2x controller, 2x compute, 3x storage). maybe someone can help me? greez & thx, volker...

Can we get the collect logs for this scenario? We need to see the logs to see what's going on. You might want to try adding "--container-format bare" to the command below, after the "--disk-format qcow2" portion just to see if that helps. Hi Volker: Could you upload the new log of cinder crash to LP again ? Thanks. And I noticed your system is using ceph as backend, I think you can directly use ceph to backup/restore the volume . you can check [1] as reference . [1] https://blog.headup.ws/node/34 Thanks.
