[Starlingx-discuss] [TSC] Updated Multi-OS meta-specification available for review
TSC Members: We have updated the Multi-OS overview to be more of a meta-specification giving the overview and direction for our approach to Multi-OS. Please take a look at: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/619801/13 Victor and I will be working on getting the "Source ReOrg" specification completed tonight ahead of the F2F session tomorrow. Sau!

I took a really quick read in the spec and I think that the build system approach is well covered but I’m wondering about software changes for multi OS support.
For example, does patching needs changes for rpm and non-rpm based distros (I think it should)? Also, does puppet recipes run well on different OS?
Should this other aspects (if they applied) be covered on this spec or they need a different one?
This is a spec for build changes, the full spec for this parts will be in incoming specifications Regards
Thanks

Hello Everyone at STX community After quick sync with Ken, we agree to work on the meta specification together, for that we will share the specifications in a google doc public In this way, anyone can help to create the documents and avoid miscommunications or avoid having paragraphs that are not delivering the same message. These are the links for the current 2 specifications we have: https://docs.google.com/document/d/188nuV98w90xG0WWRFKItoxcsCzH5xB95dy-MD1MD... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jjdvjJDvu9_KcGiTal9BxYI__dWZ2a3MaYjkJEQS... Feel free to comment and suggest as you prefer, ( many of the suggestions made on the Gerrit review are fixed, some others need better writing ) The link has writing permissions, please be careful to do not erase a section until is previously agreed Thanks a lot for your feedback Victor Rodriguez On Wed, Jan 16, 2019 at 11:46 AM Victor Rodriguez <vm.rod25@gmail.com> wrote:

Since I am also actively involved with this effort and will be traveling this next week (visiting with Victor!), I would further suggest that we time box this activity to the finish next Friday so that this can get back into gerrit review.

Regarding the first specification, please remember that this is a "Meta-Specification", the idea here is to give a high level view of what is being planned. It is an attempt to identify additional specifications that will detail the work that has to occur. We are not trying to solve everthing (or even define everything) in the specification, we are trying to lay down the groundwork and direction for a MultiOS solution for StarlingX, not just the Build system. Thanks for everyone's support and understanding. Sau!
