[Starlingx-discuss] Is there any change to get SSH / Ping in VMs ?
Hello Team, Currently I'm trying to launch a Cirros VM to perform the following operations (in a duplex config): * Ping / ssh / scp What I'm seeing is the following: * I have created a security group with the following settings: openstack security group create security1 openstack security group rule create --ingress --protocol icmp --remote-ip 0.0.0.0/0 security1 openstack security group rule create --ingress --protocol tcp --remote-ip 0.0.0.0/0 security1 openstack security group rule create --ingress --protocol udp --remote-ip 0.0.0.0/0 security1 * If I use any flavor with this property: --property hw:mem_page_size=large * I hit an error and the VM isn't launched: controller-0:~# openstack server list +--------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------+--------+---------+ | ID | Name | Status | Networks | Image | Flavor | +--------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------+--------+---------+ | 8d22d73b-508c-478b-8d32-b9eb24e1b7a3 | richo | ERROR | | cirros | m1.tiny | +--------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------+--------+---------+ * However, if I use any flavor without the property mem_page_size I get a VM launched, with an IP, but I'm not able to ping it or ssh / scp to it, just login through virsh console. controller-0:~# openstack server list, and there is no IP inside of the VM, please see below: openstack server create --image cirros --flavor m1.tiny --network public-net0 --security-group security1 richo +--------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------------------------+--------+---------+ | ID | Name | Status | Networks | Image | Flavor | +--------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------------------------+--------+---------+ | edf0896c-f9e3-4dbf-8a11-f0e5a84d4c02 | richo | ACTIVE | public-net0=192.168.101.49 | cirros | m1.tiny | +--------------------------------------+-------+--------+----------------------------+--------+---------+ controller-0:~# sudo virsh console 1 Connected to domain instance-00000003 Escape character is ^] login as 'cirros' user. default password: 'gocubsgo'. use 'sudo' for root. cirros login: cirros Password: $ ip a 1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue qlen 1 link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00 inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever inet6 ::1/128 scope host valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever 2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000 link/ether fa:16:3e:ca:a9:db brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff [ 1256.136730] random: nonblocking pool is initialized inet6 fe80::f816:3eff:feca:a9db/64 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever $ With the latest changes is there anything that I'm missing to get this working ? even the "ip netns" command isn't giving me any value. Thanks in advance -Ricardo
Hi Ricardo: I don't think StarlingX change some openstack setting recently. is it enabling DPDK in system ? could you check your duplex controller free memory ? Thanks. BR Austin Sun.
