Building a community at a high level is a two-step process. The first is step is attracting the users. The second step is onboarding and maintaining users. Each step has many barriers.
"Why StarlingX?" is a significant barrier for users considering/reviewing StarlingX. There are many factors that influence the selection process. One of the biggest factor is the features. And, an easy way to understand various capabilities will greatly aid the selection process. Blogs and Demo videos greatly assist in providing an overview of capabilities and learn them without setting up environments (or going through elaborate process).
After a user has selected StarlingX, next step is onboarding and maintaining them. There are many barriers in this area. Below are some of them (not an exhaustive list).
1. Cultural differences (Depending on their background, they may expect real time communication)
2. Technical challenges (They may not realize the resources needed to develop/use, lack of technical skills, support expectations)
3. Newcomer characteristics.
* Behavior (underestimate the time/support, may lack patience, may lack commitment)
* Background (Expectations based on experience with other communities)
4. Documentation challenges(information overload, missing documentation)
There are many barriers to onboarding and maintaining users. There may be a need to have multiple approaches to assist diverse community members.
As a TSC, I would focus on the first step of attracting the users. In collaboration with project teams, I will contribute to blogs and demos where appropriate.
Regards,
Ram
P.S.: If you have not seen it already, here is a demo showcasing the scalability of StarlingX (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3uGlKLNoRE). It’s also accessible from the StarlingX home page (https://www.starlingx.io/).

Hi StarlingX TSC candidates,
I would like to use the opportunity to ask you a question as part of the TSC election campaign period.
Growing and diversifying the community has been an important topic for the project since its inception. What is your strategy to support this effort? For instance, how would you lower the barriers for newcomers to enter and start participating in the community?
Best Regards,
Ildikó

This is the time to raise any issues you wish the future TSC to consider, and to evaluate the opinions of the nominees prior to their election.
