[Starlingx-discuss] Duplex PXE Booting seems failed
Hello StarlingX Team, I finally solved the horizon error, the port number was different. I don't know why the port was changed, but anyway the port number was 8080, not 80. But I'm now facing new obstacles, Duplex PXE Booting. I succeed to connect PXE mode, but no more process.. In Controller-0, I can find below result, [image: image.png] And another node that should've been controller-1, shows below letters on the display. 1) All-in-one Loading rel-19.01/installer-bzImage......... Loading rel-19.01/installer-initrd............................................................................ready. I waited this task for a day, but no changes. Any help would be very appreciated. Best Regards, Jaewook. ================================================ *Jaewook Oh* (오재욱) IISTRC - Internet Infra System Technology Research Center 369 Sangdo-ro, Dongjak-gu, 06978, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Hi Jaewook, For the 8080 change, you could find the history in below mail: http://lists.starlingx.io/pipermail/starlingx-discuss/2019-February/003017.h... For the PXE mode, you could use “system host-show controller-1 | grep install” to get controller-1 install status. Please make sure controller-1 is configured to boot with disk first. Just manuall choose pxeboot for the first time installation. Otherwise, if controller-1 is configured to using pxeboot as first priority, it will lead to deadloop of installation. Hi Shuicheng, Thank you for your kind explain :) For the port one, it really was understandable why the port had been changed. But for the PXE one, still I couldn't get any change. As you said, system host-show controller-1 | grep install does not change from the first one install_output = text install_state = None install_state_info = None And also, the display doesn't seem to be changed. It does not reboot at all. It keeps showing 1) All-in-one Loading rel-19.01/installer-bzImage......... Loading rel-19.01/installer-initrd............................................................................ready. Again.. I rechecked my BIOS setting, but it was not the problem. Do you have any suggestion? Best Regards, Jaewook. 2019년 2월 22일 (금) 오후 4:11, Lin, Shuicheng <shuicheng.lin@intel.com>님이 작성:

Hi, On PXE booting the serial output is used instead of the screen. You can change this on the grub menu (hit “e” when grub appears) by replacing ttyS0 to tty0. -Erich From: Jaewook Oh <kyle.oh95@gmail.com> Date: Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 7:12 PM To: "Lin, Shuicheng" <shuicheng.lin@intel.com> Cc: starlingx-discuss <starlingx-discuss@lists.starlingx.io> Subject: Re: [Starlingx-discuss] Duplex PXE Booting seems failed Hi Shuicheng, Thank you for your kind explain :) For the port one, it really was understandable why the port had been changed. -Erich
You can also define this as an installation parameter when configuring the node. So when you do: system host-update 2 personality=controller you can also set the console at this time, such as: system host-update 2 personality=controller console= or: system host-update 2 personality=controller console=tty0 The default console setting is ttyS0,115200, which you can see with a “system host-show controller-1” command. Hi Jaewook: 1. could you share the hw info for controller-1 ? and check bios setting ? is it using UEFI ? VTx/Iommu enable or not ? 2. Could you try access controller-1 and press Alt+F10 to see any log if the system is bare metal ? Thanks. BR Austin Sun. Hi Austin, I thought I had already replied to the mail on 22, but it seems there were some mistakes. Here are the information. 1. - Here is the spec Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU D-1557 @ 1.50GHz RAM : 32GB (Is this the problem? I already saw for the controller 64GB RAM is needed, but I'm not sure, cause the installation was just stuck literally, SSD : 500GB SuperMicro - Bios Setting: I enabled and disabled as the instruction said. And at first try, I didn't used UEFI, after failure, I changed it into UEFI, but the result was same. I enabled VTx/Iommu enable or not ? 2. I used bare metal one.. however when I pressed the buttons, nothing happened. And the controller-1 is just stopped as I said before. Thank you for helping me :) Best Regards, Jaewook. 2019년 2월 28일 (목) 오전 10:12, Sun, Austin <austin.sun@intel.com>님이 작성:
